However, as with anything made of styrofoam, it must be handled carefully and 5 year olds are often not known for being careful. We lost one tail of one plane the day he got it, but with reminding him to be careful, the other 2 are still flying. Depending on the child I might hold off getting this for a few years, maybe 8-19 years old. But my 5 year old grandson has had a lot of fun with them. One person found this helpful

One of the planes lights were broken (thank goodness it comes with 3) and the gun itself wasn't working as it should. 4 boys still had alot of fun with it and the 3 different light settings was cool.     5.0 out of 5 stars Such a fun toy! I'd give this 10 stars if I could! I ordered this for my 3 year old for Christmas and it quickly turned into a favorite for him and my other son, who is 5. It comes with 1 gun and 3 airplanes that are very easy to put together! Also comes with stickers to put on the airplanes to make them look more fun and realistic. Each plane has lights that have different settings that really add to the fun. Batteries are included (a plus!) The airplanes are easy to load onto the gun - they just slide right on. Once you shoot, the plane glides through the air and when they land on the ground, the wheels take over and it's like a real plane landing. Such a fun toy at a great price. One of the planes broke on the first day and I was thankful it came with 3 airplanes. They do light up though which was another fun aspect. It’s a great gift for an at home/backyard party where it can be used right away. We’ve had problems with a plane getting messed up/broken within the first day, but it’s almost expected for this age/type of toy. He loves to launch it and watch it fly and sometimes drift a little on a windy day. My 2-year old has broken off the tail of a couple of them, but nothing a little hot glue won’t fix. Got his running, catching, aiming and shooting experiences all in one play. Also became a storyteller about flights and destinations. Pleased to see him enjoy it so much. Had it been a remote toy with batteries he problably would have been bored after 1/2 hour.
