As far as quality, the product has a light smell, moderate lather. The scent didn’t stick around very long (2-3 days). It did make his hair very soft. I did notice it helped mildly with his itching on his paws. He tends to lick them often. Color of shampoo is clear and bottle was sealed when purchased. May or may not purchase again. 5.0 out of 5 stars Really helped My boyfriends dog was itching and biting a certain spot on his back and we didn't know why so I bought this shampoo. At first I was skeptical about getting it because some shampoos say they will help but don't really. This actually helped us narrow the problem down and after a day it really showed results. His back was red where he was itching but after the day we bathed him with this shampoo it worked and he seemed happy. We thankfully narrowed it down to him having fleas but it really helps with redness and scabbing. Make sure you read the directions on the bottle to get the right results your pet will hate it but it's worth it.Didn't smell awful actually smelled good and the shampoo isn't really colored it looks clear. I would recommend if you do have a long haired dog your putting this on don't worry about conditioner for your dog messing with the shampoo. After I shampooed my dog I put conditioner on after so no tangles. I recommend shampooing twice for best results. One person found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Lab Hair Loss/Constant Itch- A+ Combined with Vet Care My dog was itchy for about 3 weeks. First 2 weeks I was giving her Benadryl (vet approved) and doing oatmeal and dawn soap baths every other day. Using cortisone and topical .15% Ketoconazole I had gotten at the vet as an ear wash (directions listed topical use too so I knew it was ok). She kept getting worse when she should have improved, so I ordered this shampoo and scheduled a vet visit. Started this shampoo every other day while waiting the 5 more days for our appointment. She got a little less itchy, but still bad. Vet said her condition could have improved if I had started the shampoo before the secondary skin infection set in, but it would never clear up now without antibiotics. Treatment was a does of NexGuard (just in case it was mites/mange) injection of Cytopoint to stop the itching, and 30 days antibiotics. I took everything I had been using with us to the vet, and she said that even though she wasn’t familiar with this brand, they sold one with the same active ingredients she was going to recommend, but since I already had this one to continue with every other day baths and the topical ketoconazole on non bath days. Vet also said that given the length of time dog had been itchy, she was expecting dog to be in much worse condition than she actually was, so the baths were working, my dog was just too far gone for baths alone to heal her.Short Version- if you can start this shampoo (bathe every other day) immediately at the first signs of itch, it could prevent a secondary skin infection that sets in if dog has scratched enough to break their skin. You know infection has started if you see any pink/red/raw spots from scratching and you will most likely smell it. It’s a very distinct bitter smell I can only describe as a combo of feet, onions and black tar. 53 people found this helpful

The scent fades quickly, which we appreciate. 5.0 out of 5 stars Helped our dogs skin condition We have a lab/mastiff/something mix. We were told labs have sensitive skin, and that holds true for our dog. We live on a lot of land and our indoor dog likes to venture and also roll in smelly grossness she finds. We also have horse flies in the summer. The end of the summer, she had bites on her but also kept rolling in lots of smelly stuff, we are not sure what triggered it but she somehow developed a skin infection of scaly bumps all over. They started in one section and then continued to spread. They looked like scabs but they never went away, and then our dog was losing fur where these bumps were, her skin was red and angry all over. We tried shampoos at Wmart, medicated sprays, creams from petco. nothing was helping, it was only getting worse (this happened rather quickly, so since it wasn’t terrible we waited on the vet). We were about to call the vet the next day but I did a search for conditions and found out the chlorhexidine ingredient is what vets will prescribe. An Amazon search led me to this shampoo. There are others with the active ingredient, I chose this one after a lot of back and forth between choices. If the 2% wasn’t doing enough, I would have chosen another with 4% and another active ingredient after this one - never needed to try another. We figured we’d start with this. It has a strong apple smell, we’re not huge fans of the scent, but this shampoo has fixed our dogs condition and her fur has returned so the scent doesn’t bother us for what the shampoo does for our dog. Her coat looks healthy again, she can go a lot longer between baths before she smells like she needs another. If you’re on the fence, it’s worth the $20 to try. We noticed a difference after the first bath. Just fyi for those wondering how much to bathe - We did a bath twice a week the first couple weeks, then once a week, now we try and make sure we do every other week unless we feel it’s needed sooner than that. 45 people found this helpful

So i tried everything under the sun. Every lotion, melatonin, coconut oil, special coat shampoos. Only recently did a vet mention yeast. So I got this shampoo and used it everyday for 5 days then went to once a week and these are the results. Her skin is soft. She’s not itching. And her fur is growing back. I feel like I can breath again. I can tell she’s more comfortable now. Rarely do I find that there is a miracle product. A one step fix. But this actually was that for me. 5.0 out of 5 stars Pet Honesty My pup likes to roll on our lawn occasionally and with the extremely dry weather in the Pacific Northwest this summer our grass is far from green. He has rolled only a few times and the dryness has irritated his skin and possibly something may have stung him also. The Pet Honesty shampoo came very quickly. The day it came we tried it out. I noticed it didn’t foam a lot but I followed the directions and went very slowly starting with the long ears, head, front legs, belly and then back legs , tail. I did his face with a washcloth. After waiting the required minutes deep rinsing began thoroughly. We use a dryer for baths. The results were great. He’s an English Cocker with beautiful long fine hair on the ears, legs, sides. Ever since they changed the Douxo Chlorhexidine shampoo to that S3 PYO…I have been so bummed, they went from squeeze to a pump.. who the hell has time to pump shampoo for a 100 pound dog, who trying to get away from a bath! The smell wasn’t that great coconut smell, the effect on my dogs skin was not the same, not soft, but more greasy, even the texture and lather was crap!…WELL.. you gotta love Amazon and the reviewers! So thanks all! I was sold on this! I really really like this shampoo..the smell, smells a little melony, the lather, squeeze not pump, same oz for the price and the RESULTS! My dog has stayed shiny, not smelly and I feel like less itchy! Even a few days later I complimented him how much I loved this new shampoo! Hahah His coat was really still soft! The reviews were positive, so I thought I’d try it. Glad I did. Seemed to do the trick but nothing is 100% with a powerful shot of skunk to contend with. For the money, I think it’s definitely worth it. I used it on my two Dobies that looked and smelled awesome afterwards and one of my German Shepherds that has a skin condition. Beau has never had any serious skin issues just skin drys up, a hot spot and usual doggy odor build up. When I saw it kills bacteria on the skin which bully’s easily get yeast issues and soothed with aloe I had to try it. By the way make sure you rub the soap in between their toes and let the soap sit on their skin before rinsing for serious paw lickers out there. But I get so many compliments about how soft, smooth and shiny his coat is. I can tell he is comfortable in his skin, feeling so refreshed! For a brief bit I tried another brand because it was cheaper and boasted to have all the same qualities but after 2 washes it was apparent I had made a mistake. Beau was itchy, dirt built up quicker and he was smelly quicker even with me doing his usual daily wipe downs in his wrinkles. I didn’t know how to help my poor dog! It had been months with no results just another expense after another with no result! Finally one day I decided to come here and see what I could find that might be able to help my dog and I saw that this shampoo had great results so I decided to give it a shot I mean I had nothing to lose I had tried everything! My dog had flaky skin that came accompanied by a very strong sour yeast smell. I could smell him from the other room that’s how bad it was and he wouldn’t stop liking himself! Immediately after the first wash I was able to see results he wasn’t liking himself as much and the smell wasn’t as bad! I have been washing him every other day and I can finally say the bad smell is almost gone and he doesn’t scratch as much and his fur is really soft! And to make matters worse, the dog had some type of skin condition that she said was fine and under control- welp it wasn't and whatever it was my 1yr old work dog/family pet puppy caught it.🤬I had been looking for ways to help my dog feel better cuz his skin and fur were starting to get crusty.This shampoo is REALLY GOOD!I am impressed. I FINALLY got the gross GP in the bath. He weighs over 100lbs and shakes uncontrollably whenever I try to bathe him. I FINALLY bathed him with this stuff and his crusty gross scabs just started coming off in my hands as I was washing him and nothing got that stuff off before.As a matter of fact, I gave up washing him because he was gross and freaked out every time I tried to bathe him, but he was just too smelly so I HAD To!I can't believe how much it's made a difference. He's not going on his hot spots as much now which is great. It smells decent. It leaves their coat like shockingly soft & sparkly. My dogs are white/tan merle and it's hard to get them to look not dirty. The instructions indicate that it must be left on the coat for 10 minutes. I left it on as long as I could, but she was having trouble standing that long. To my surprise, it has very much helped her itching, and there has been no residue from the shampoo. (Other shampoos have residue no matter how well you rinse the coat.) 5.0 out of 5 stars My doggie was clean before this and we're happy For starters, it arrived faster than expected. My little Ducky had a bath 4 days ago (not with Pet Honesty Chlorhexidine Shampoo). His poor little skin was like brail. I could run my fingers over it and just feel - what looked like - little scabs/flakes. The doctor prescribed gen 1 spray but, imo, it wasn't doing much at $45 for a 4 fl oz bottle and we've been trying that for a year. He wasn't scratching, he didn't stink and he wasn't loosing his hair, but those "scab/flake" things were driving me up the wall. After reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I was kind of in shock as to what was coming off. Look closely at those bath pics. See those black dots? My sink WAS cleaned before we got started. With other doggie baths this didn't happen. We kept it on for 10 min - just like the directions stated - and while we were waiting for the timer to go off, I would massage him and those flake/scab things were coming off to my surprise and shock. I repeated the process and more flake/scab things came off but not as much as the first wash and rinse. He smells sooooo good I just wanna eat him right up. In all honesty, I'm glad I'm on their auto-ship program and I have a very good feeling its only gonna get better from here.UPDATE: Initially, I was trying to do 2 shampoos a week, which can be a bit difficult when you don't have any help. 4.0 out of 5 stars Only used once so far So far if only used it once on one dog and I mixed it with a other dog wash we had . I didn’t want to try full strength until I knew how it was for the dogs skin. I have 2 half jack russel and rat terriers brother and sister and both are allergic to grass . I washed the female and it has seemed to calm it down a bit . I haven’t noticed her biting her paws or licking as much. And the itching has all but stopped. The male is next . Hopefully it does the same with him. It cost 127 bucks for him to get a shot at the vet that last 3 months . If this works it’s a much better option 6 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Your doggy will love it I was kind of hesitant to order this fairly pricey shampoo for my dog, but i’m glad I did so! You don’t need a lot of product to get your dog clean so it’s worth it!! Not to mention it smells really good and is now one of my favorite shampoos I’ve used on my dog over the past 13 years.

4.0 out of 5 stars This shampoo conquered my dog's "corn chip" smell My sweet pittie has sensitive, itchy skin, and within a few days of bathing her, the corn chip smell would return. I have tried several different shampoos meant for this problem, with weak results. The Pet Honesty works much better, we still bathe her weekly, but haven't noticed a return of the corn chip odor. I deducted one star because even though the shampoo smells lovely when bathing her, it doesn't really stick to her. But at least she smells clean! 5 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to keep on him for 10 mins but smells great Nothing against this product, it would be difficult to keep any "product" on my dog for 10 mins. But this does smell great. I cannot say if it has done anything great for his skin but i am sure it helps. Good enough for a try for sure. One person found this helpful
