5.0 out of 5 stars Netgear AX8 8-Stream AX660 WiFi 6 Router (RAX70) model I needed to replace my aging Asus RT-3100. I reviewed about a dozen potential router replacements. I ended up choosing the Netgear AX8 8-Stream AX660 WiFi 6 Router (RAX70) model. Installation of this router was extremely simple! Once installed, I was easily able to attach all my smart devices including TVs, Cell Phones, Cameras and other smart devices. The Admin interface is easy to use and fairly intuitive to anyone who has configured a home router in the past. Measured speeds have been excellent thus far, even with over a dozen simultaneously connected devices, I would highly recommend this router.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good router I don’t know much about routers but did some research to figure out how to make my att wifi better because some of my devices were being dropped off the att modem’s WiFi. I hooked this router up to the modem through a Ethernet cable and turned off the wifi on the modem and using it only through this router. ( YouTube is your friend!) So far so good. I have had up to 22 devices on it and nothing has been dropped. I have been able to stream movies also with no problems. The app is easy to use and it notifies me every time a new devices attach to the wifi and periodically scans the for threats.

5.0 out of 5 stars Performance is outstanding, setup was somewhat annoying I'm going to start with the good news...this thing really performs. I upgraded from a Linksys AC1750 that was going on 5 or 6 years old. It had always been rock solid (not a single outage in all those years) but I had a feeling I wasn't get the speeds I should have been, boy was I correct. I recently upgraded my FIOS internet from a 100 to a 500 Gbps plan because I have two sons and both are now using tablets, etc. Plus I have a high end gaming PC and we have three TVs in the house streaming 4k, in addition to other devices. After the FIOS plan upgrade I ran a speed test from my PC and was getting about 340 gbps download and upload speeds. However, after I upgraded to this router...520 gbps download and upload! On top of that the range of the 5G network is way bigger than it was, probably triple the area. One of the other main reasons I wanted to upgrade to this router is so I have better coverage in my back yard in the summer. This thing covers my entire house and most of my yard - front and back. I am extremely happy with the performance. Now lets discuss the initial setup...First off, I got it done and it only took me a total of about 15 minutes. But there were some annoyances that I want to share with others. When you first start the setup and open the app it tells you to scan the QR code on the router. Mine didn't have any QR code on it. That was number 1. I checked the box too, no QR codes anywhere. So I had to do it manually. Not a big deal for me, however...when you select to do it manually in the app it takes you out of the app into your phone's settings to connect to the router network (NETGEAR** and the password is written on the bottom of the router). It also says that after you connect to go back into the Nighthawk app to continue setup. OK, so I connected to the router manually (which worked fine) but then wasn't able to go back into the app because the app was still directed to my phone's settings to connect to WIFI. Nothing was happening, so had to close everything and re-launch the app, which then started the process over again. Finally after 3 tries, the app recognized that I had connected to the router and continued with the setup process. Then, the router needed a firmware update. During that update I got an error message saying that it couldn't find the router, but the firmware update finished successfully anyway. Then I had to re-connect my phone to the router (again) manually to move to the final step in the setup. All in all the setup completed correctly but as you can see there were some hiccups. As stated it only took me 15 minutes or so but probably should have taken less than 5. I am being nick picky here but I remember setting up the Linksys router and it went very smoothly and quickly. Not really a big deal though and now that its done it never has to be done again. Given the performance I am getting from it, I don't really care. Hence the five star review.The only thing remaining is to find out how well this stays connected over the years. After how extremely well my Linksys performed I have very high expectations. 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy set up, works great! I bought this because my Verizon FiOS Wi-Fi router seemed to be crapping out, where the range was getting worse and worse. I studied the gamut of WiFi units available in this price range, and this one kept coming up as one of the top picks. With the six antennas, newest Wi-Fi band technology, and included security, I decided to go with this one. I was concerned about replacing the FiOS router, as it is necessary to keep set top box, menu and DVR control intact. There would allegedly be IP issues and some reconfiguration necessary. I plugged the input of this into one of the LAN, outputs on the FiOS unit, followed the set up instructions on the required Nighthawk phone app, and completed installation. Everything hooked up successfully, all my devices are connected, flawlessly, and my range is fantastic. There was nothing extra to do at all, so I am ecstatic. 4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Fast Router within 50 Feet This router has a powerful and fast signal within about 50 feet that drops off quickly in signal strength and speed farther away than that.I place my router on the top shelf in a closet in my home office, which is centrally located in the house. It covers most of our 3000 square foot, single story, open concept home well enough and extends to the back patio. It does not cover one bedroom and does not reach the attached garage. But it is not designed for a home that large. Adding another one in WAP mode would make a a powerful system with huge range and speed.Setup was easy and followed the standard Netgear procedure. You can use either the Nighthawk app or set it up manually using the web interface. I started with the app, then deep-edited some settings in my browser. Everything worked well enough.In the end, I traded this router for an Orbi RBR750 setup, which has slower terminal speed, but better coverage of my square footage, which is a solid trade-off in my environment.4 starts overall. After a lot of searching around, I came up with this router, which seemed to be very capable for a relatively inexpensive price.The router came intact without any problems set up, was easy with the provided app. I set mine up as a second separate network from my Internet providers device. I connected it to the cable modem by pre-existing ethernet connection at the side of my old router, then follow the instructions on the app And I was up and running in less than five minutes.I have had no problems, connecting with any of my devices, which include security, cameras, thermostats, laptops, TVs and iPads. My son works from home for a software company has been running his work operation without any difficulties, and we have not experienced any limitations with regard to bandwidth or speed. The range of the router is quite good without any dead spots within my 5000 square-foot home and garage. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Router - Although the setup process could have been better This new router replaced the R7000 which worked well for 7 years. I originally purchased the AX5400 but kept running into issues. Then I decided to try the AX4200. Alittle bulkier than the R7000 however it does come with an extra antenna to help with WIFI reception. I originally tried to setup the router through the Netgear app but it kept on giving me issues. I then reset the router and set it up through routerlogin.net which worked great. Setup was easy and I was able to make changes within the router as per my desired setup. My internet plan is set for 300/20 and the router is getting more around 320/20. I speed tested all throughout my 1300 square foot home and the signal is consistent and strong. I am very pleased thus far. Only time will tell how long the router will hold up. I am hoping to get a few years out of it.

I looked up many reviews and decided on this product . It has been a game changer. No more Netflix movies being paused . YouTube videos play all the way through now. 5.0 out of 5 stars Easiest Wifi Router to setup! I have worked in IT for over 20 years. This was the easiest Wifi router to setup I've ever used. It is full of great features. The app on the phone is a great feature that allows me to view the status of the device and monitor and manage all the connected devices. One of the biggest differences I noticed was the speed of triggering connected smart plugs/lights. I have several lights that work via Alexa. My old wi-fi router had a delay that could take several seconds to turn on/off a smart plug or light. With the new Nighthawk, the lights turn on/off almost instantly. Was pleasantly surprised at the ease of setup with Spectrum internet. Works wonderfully out of the box. Wifi is strong and haven't had any issues thus far. No more drops of buffering from internet service after router was installed. Downloads/uploads are super fast and seamlessly peeformed. A little pricey, but well worth the money. Wish the extra protection service was free for a year then asked for more years protection with the added cost. Just a very nice router. 4.0 out of 5 stars Possibly a returned item? Just got this router and so far it’s doing great. However, the default password didn’t work until I did a factory reset on it. This leads me to believe someone previously had this router and set their own password before returning it. I’ll keep monitoring for any issues, but wanted to warn everyone.Other than the router’s password situation, set up was a breeze with the app and router is pulling the same speeds the technician said the modem was receiving on Wednesday.I’d recommend this router so far; I’ll try to update in a few weeks.

And one of the Ethernet ports has a redline on it so I figured that’s the one to use. From the time I open the box through the entire set up process of downloading the app and plugging everything and it was about 20 minutes, super easy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for replacement router Can't give it 5 stars since I purchased this to replace another netgear product that constantly drops wifi.This had been working for months now, I am not sure IF I want to check for updates - that is what hosed me on the old one. I know security updates are important but that caused me to purchase another router and extender due to constant issues with those and this is why I can't give support a good review. I don't know if intentional to get you to buy a newer version/equipment.They tried fixing the older router, but telling me to "back off" updates, reset to factory is NOT a way to fix. Thus, I will say replacing to new router/extender fixed my issues but I payed (literally) to fix problems with the old Netgear equipment. 3 people found this helpful

We thought there was something wrong with the mesh system or with the internet provider. We finally talked to someone at the internet provider who explained that the mesh in that building was the problem (he has worked with a lot of the residents in the building). He recommend the NetGear AX5400 as that is what he has. Once we got it set up we have had no buffering and actually better speeds.

We were using the router that was built into the cable modem provided by our cable company. After upgrading our modem, I had to buy a router as well. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good so far Definitely an upgrade from my previous AC3200. So far the range has been pretty good. I have a TV upstairs, I'd say about 25ft away and the reception has been pretty good.The one note I have for everyone is to download the APP and make a Netgear account prior to shooting your new router up. The process is quicker this way as you can't continue with setup of your router until you login to you Netgear account, or you've already made an account.
