5.0 out of 5 stars Handy, portable monitoring device I fly a lot of different airplanes and carbon monoxide poisoning is a real concern, especially in the winter when using cabin heat that comes off a muffler shroud. This is a reasonably compact device that is very easy to use. I've checked it against a different brand of monitor and the readings where consistent between the two. One person found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute life-saver, best money I ever spent Had an ongoing CO problem in my 2-family brownstone. Both the FDNY and the gas company (National Grid) were in my house and my neighbor's houses multiple times trying to find the source. Finally found it, but throughout the month-long process this device was an absolute god-send.It was accurate, lasted for days on a single set of 3 AAAs, provided almost the exact same readings as the super-expensive high-tech scanners from FDNY and National Grid, and was instrumental in eventually resolving the problem (which was in a neighbor's house).I rarely write reviews but had to for this product, top notch, top quality, and excellent value, cannot recommend enough. 36 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars It seems accurate! Easy to use, relatively intuitive to the point that the two-pages manual is sufficient. I was interested in the carbon monoxide reads and except for a random spike every now and then, very hard to replicate, it didn't record anything. For a coincidence, I had a crew of technicians to come testing some stuff at my place and they picked up the same random spike but with a much more sophisticated and expensive piece of equipment. I guess it is accurate, after all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissatisfied I am frustrated with the smart sensor CO detector. The detector does not pick up or read carbon monoxide properly. This is upsetting as some individuals may rely on these readings for the immediate health and safety concerns. In my opinion, this product should be tested or pull from the shelf. Perhaps my unit is defective and this is a great product. I have tested this near gas water heaters, gas furnaces, gas fireplaces , tested air has zero carbon monoxide near the exhaust or combustion areas. This item is a return item, in my opinion but it's easier for me to close this matter and throw it in the trash. Buyer beware. I purchased a cheaper detector and realize once again you simply pay for what you get. 2 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent c o meter I tested the meter with a yellow, flamed candle and it worked. I wanted to test my gas furnace that will read all the way down to zero PPM CO. Other typical CO alarms don't read that low. Most other CO alarms only read at very high CO levels when they alarm. One person found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars I’d give it 5 stars except it’s too easy to turn on. Sounds silly. But unless I get a fit case for it. The slightest pressure on the power button turns it on. my first look at it and my amateur test show that this could be the real thing. A lot if “testers” from there, are fake. And actually have alcohol sensors in them. They Don’t detect co at all or barely. This one didn’t fall for the isopropyl alcohol on the hand trick. The fakes will go nuts showing 1000’s ppm. But hold them near a source if co. Nothing.I’m pleased. Especially since it’s illegal to sell these in California. State law. Can’t sell detector without a ten year battery. The geniuses. Didn’t stipulate between a tool and one for your home. Got to love this state. 9 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Readings do not inspire confidence I liked the size and basic design of the unit. Backlit display was easy to read. The problem I had is that most of the time, the reading was 0 ppm. This is my first CO meter, but I was having trouble believing the zero number, especially when in the vicinity of flame sources such as burning candles. To get substantial CO readings, I had to fire up my charcoal grill. I also found running a gasoline engine in an enclosed space would get a reading. The readings at the low end of the range seemed to be erratic and/or non-linear. I might see a reading of 10, which would drop to 0 a second later, and then back to 10 after another second. I understand the sensor has a slow response time, but I would have expected more gradual changes in the readings. The sensor supposedly has a 3-year lifetime. I would not buy this unit next time. 18 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CO Meter...Real Value Overall, I'm impressed with the quality of this $40 carbon monoxide meter. Well worth the expenditure to check for appliance leaks in the house, as well as the cabin of my vehicles. The instructions are not clear on the calibration time, as many questioners noted. When first turned on, the digital screen will display "120", and begin to count down each second, until 2 minutes later, the display will automatically change to the sampling mode. The 120 second calibration mode can be interrupted at any time by pressing the “ON” button, and will revert to the sampling mode. The instruction sheet lists a 60 second response time; the data sheet for the Nemoto NAP-505 sensor lists a 30 second response time. The response time varies with temperature, and increases with colder temperatures. Your choice if you want to wait the full 2 minutes. The instructions indicate a typical sensor life of 3 years, while the data sheet for the NAP-505 sensor lists an expected life of 7 years. The electrolyte used in the sensor is hygroscopic, and will attract water will degrade the device. Store the CO meter in a low humidity environment, to achieve the expected life. The CO meter in the sampling mode with backlight off, draws about 8 mA. The 750 mAh AAA Eneloops I use (to avoid parasitic cell corrosion/leakage) will therefore power the unit for probably 75-100 hours of realistic “ON” time. I’m satisfied with that amount of operating time….more than I need.I have no way to test the ppm accuracy of the meter, other than to approach the exhaust pipe of my car. The CO concentration does increase the close I come to the pipe. I don’t have a standard gas bottle. The NAP-505 is a quality Japanese sensor, so I’m inclined to trust the accuracy. My gross test on my car shows that the meter does work. It’s great that a product used for safety checks, is available at such a reasonable price. I’d buy this CO meter again. 39 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars As far as I can tell, it works I bought this because my power bill was so high due to electric heat so I got a single head propane heater and I just wanted to make sure I didn't end up taking the big sleep if you know what I mean... The propane heater is not registering anything until it gets close to empty then it's around 15-20ppm, I took it to work with me and my forced air propane heater puts out 15-20 consistently, this thing will even pick up my car exhaust at the front door. Even a zippo lighter will set it off so I'm pretty sure it works. I also have carbon monoxide detectors in my house and they haven't gone off yet so I think I'm safe. The picture is of me standing on the porch and reading CO from the car.Edit. Just found out a wireless phone charger will set it off🤣 One person found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars It's worth the price I can say that this meter is accurate on temp wise. CO works but I have only one way to test. And it definitely works. Started the car in the garage on a cold winters day w/the door closed. It didn't take long to register ppms rising to above 120 & kept going. shut car off opened garage door and about 30 minutes later it's back to 0-10ppm. It also has been confirmed when checking my fireplace. Turns out my gas logs were combusting. This is why I bought it. I started getting headaches once I started the gas logs this year. So is it worth it at the price. Absolutely. One person found this helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars Wildly inaccurate in the worst way I bought this to corroborate active carbon monoxide alarms and diagnose the source. It promptly registered upward of 250ppm CO next to our heater vents, with zero in clean outdoor air or at a friend's house. That's far into the danger zone, so we called an inspector from the gas company, who found nothing (his meter read zero), and later asked the fire department to take a look. The fire department used a meter that is calibrated daily against a 4-gas mixture that includes CO, and it read zero the entire time that they were in our house, including while up against a vent at the same time that my meter was reading 200ppm. We later discovered that the root cause of the alarms was that the units had turned 10 years old at the same time and so were sounding an "end of life" alarm. (Confusingly, this still lights up the "danger; move to fresh air" LED. But what are you gonna do.) The firefighter said conclusively, "there is no carbon monoxide in this house".Incidentally, the built-in thermometer was also off by about 10 °C.This was just about the worst failure mode for this situation. The fire chief said that we did exactly the right steps to calibrate the meter: observe zero in clean air, observe spike near potential source, observe zero when removed again. We even saw some lower spikes when a big truck would drive by. We presume that it's detecting something correlated to carbon monoxide but not actually CO. Our trusting this meter created a lot of stress for us and I cannot anti-recommend it highly enough. 5 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful, compact, best purchase of the year. Used it to diagnose an exhaust leek in a furnace, poor ventilation in a small bedroom, everyday driving in traffic. I plan on carrying it with me on trips. The dual CO and CO2 feature are rare in a product. The clip it comes with is junk, but I have replacement clips and for its function so far easily overlooked down side. Don't hang it from your shirt or anywhere near your nose as it will alarm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of mind I keep the unit next to my dog's bed in the garage near our propane heater. I know propane is supposed to burn clean, but you just don't know if you're not monitoring. This unit feels durable. It's about the size of a hockey puck. Seems like the frame of the device is made of metal, the face and back look like injection molded plastic. Still, if you were to drop it, the plastic has a good chance of hitting the ground, perhaps breaking. The CO detector picked up on a cigarette almost instantly, when held near the detector. I trust it works. The only control is a single button. Don't lose the instructions. I found I only really needed to use the button for power on/off, and bringing the display out of power saving mode were it dims the still visible readings. The included lanyard is cute, but essentially useless. The hook has a flawed design, and won't even clip onto a belt loop. The battery seems to last a long time. So far, I'd say I've had it monitoring for about 10 hours and it still shows a full charge. I'll see how it holds up.The temperature and humidity readings are interesting to know. You don't get those on all the different devices available. It's a nice bonus for me.The display is bright and very easy to read. It dims after some time, still, it is readable. To turn on the bright display only requires a quick tap of the single button control. The audible alarm is attention getting and fairly loud. The magnet is not really strong enough to hold it to smooth metal such as the side of a heater. It will slide right down. Other metal surfaces, it seems to work ok on. Don't fully depend on the magnet to hold it in place 100% of the time. The first one I received rattled, I exchanged it. The second one does not make noise when you move it around. 3 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Answered my Neighbors question Bought it because my neighbor kept complaining of headaches while driving thinking it was Carbon Monoxide. This passed the alcohol test, so took it out. Read 0-11PPM in the cabin of the vehicle and 800-OL at the exhaust pipe, so works just fine and he doesn't have to worry about an exhaust leak, and I don't have to worry about him asking me every other day about it!The only problem I have is just how bad the instructions are. When you turn it on it has this really long start up and the instructions manual is so poorly written. At this point there isn't much reason for a company to not hire someone from the country they plan to sell in to properly translate a manual, so seeing these poorly translated manuals that you have to guesswork through in 2023 is just unacceptable at this point.Besides that the only other complaint is minor and that's where you can see a place in the packaging for the batteries, yet they aren't provided. So they went through the trouble to have packaging made to include batteries, then didn't include batteries. Make sure to buy some AAAs. 18 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars It definately works There were comments stating that the detector did't work despite it being exposed to some combustible source. well, I was starting to feel the same way. However after removing the top part( please be carefull doing so). While starting my car one morning, I heard a beeping and I was thinking it was comming from the car, but I looked in my pocket and found the CO detector going crazy with readings 70s,30s and so forth. It sounds off even when the most minutest co particles emited into the air. This gadget really works. One person found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well. . .READ whole review. . . Used to test if a small gas generator could be vented from garage to exterior. All piping extension was very well sealed from muffler on and there was minimal back pressure. Still CO built up rapidly. I can't report ACCURACY of the digital scale since it reports data that only a laboratory test would be able to verify. Testing in area of gas water heater while heating and same for gas furnace showed only trace amount of CO so it seems to be worthwhile to have this in addition to our CO and Fire Detectors. NOTE: When you first turn on this device it does take some time before it is ready to operate. That's covered in the documentation and there is an on-screen counter. 9 people found this helpful

Was able to dial in and adjust my Injector pump to run better in my diesel truck by the amount of Co, and also a lady that was complaining on headaches in RV..found her issue with this device.... the muffler was broken...as soon as I tried it out in the inside of the RV it started to ring the alarm..She of course was VERY happy and hired me on the spot to replace the muffler that was broken so it paid for itself in the first 5 days and may have saved her life as well..SO YEA WELL worth it! 15 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems accurate! We wanted to test our gas furnace & also our ventless gas fireplace… the reading was zero… We wanted to make sure that it actually was working, so we tested it by holding it next to a muffler while the car was running… It immediately started reading & alarms were going off…. Will keep for the piece of mind! 5 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Economical way to test your furnace for carbon monoxide It seems to work well my furnace did not. have any leaks so I did tested in the garage with the car running it did report the gases also around the stove in the house excessively. It also did show that there were gases present so it works and I’m happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny I ordered this carbon monoxide meter and ended up running into a back drafting issue less than a week later. First my carbon monoxide detector on the ceiling went off. Then I turned on the meter and it started going crazy too. The same result on two different devices means it's no fluke. This thing works. Good thing too. I was about to go to sleep when the first alarm went off. Who knows if I ever would have woken up. 9 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my families life! We have been having issues with headaches and many other symptoms. Our detectors in our home went off the other day. We didn’t have a clue! I purchased this unit and when I turned it on after it warmed up the carbon monoxide levels were as high as 80ppm in our home. This device allowed me to walk around and instantly monitor the ppm throughout the house. When I got to the pass through vent to our conditioned crawl space the levels were over 850ppm. DEADLY!!!! We contacted emergency help and resolved the issue. But without this device we would have gone to bed and possibly not woke up again!!! 100% truth. This device was awesome!!!! 8 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Instructions are a joke!! First thing you find is that there is nothing in the operating info about a timing countdown when you turn the meter on!! Then the instructions are very unclear as to how to set the mode switch. Most everything I learned was online from other people who had purchased this. 3 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars A sensing device with acutal numbers to assess safety Have had several typical CO alarm monitors in the home; but always wonder how well they are working. With the house buttoned up for winter and several potential sources for CO, I wanted to have another more reliable device that would provide a specific sensor value for potential CO conditions. It is easy to use and easy to read. After purchase and prior to receiving, the seller provided a friendly communication via email and included another fresh PDF copy of the owner's manual for the device. Delivery was quick, and as noted from the initial postings. I'm currently in the process of checking different sources in the home at different times of use along with the attached garage to confirm sensitivity of the device and reliability of those standard CO alarms for validity. So far so good. 6 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Caught my stove This is hanging in the corner of my kitchen ceiling .. I wanted to check areas in my house ..Well I was cooking one day and I just started about 10 mins or less in this thing went off .. scared me a bit because I forgot it was there lol .. went up to about 25 while cooking .. I turned the stove exhaust on quick and opened a window . It stopped alarming in less than a minute .. I recreated the problem to make certain.. so now the exhaust gets turned on every time we cook 8 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Works good This works good. The only thing I don't like about it, is how it takes to come on.I has a slow counting timer. I'm almost to impatient for it.As a home inspector, I would like this to work faster.I was on an inspection with a bioler running and water heater running.I seem like it took this like 3 minutes to count down and work. When it did finally work, it started alarming because the Co was over 150 4 people found this helpful
